Prima 2001
This page covers the 2001 Prima contest activities. As announced last year we ran a couple events in 2001 plus a postal contest for those who felt left out in the cold.
The events were duly run but despite lots of pre-contest interest the entries were a little disappointing. However all who flew had fun so thank you to them. Also thanks to Geoff Kent who ran things on the field. Plus a special thanks to Igor Vivchar who is the brains behind the model.
When you read the reports below you will see that the Prima leads the way with the first 30 gram event even before the rules change!
Below you will find the results and a selection of photographs.
All the photographs were taken at Sculthorpe on 16th September
The photographers were Bryan Spooner, Mike Evatt and myself. Special thanks to Bryan who helped me sort out out my first attempt at photo presentation using thumb nails.

The Prima event was held at Sculthorpe on 17/09/01. The event was held at the same time as the Stonehenge Cup. The day was spoiled by very strong winds, however the promised rain showers failed to show up.
The event was run by Geoff Kent with technical assistance by Mr. Prima, Igor Vivchar himself. I was scrutineer, as I choose to view the models on "stand off" basis I was totally "unaware" of some of the extras (VIT and instant start etc.) employed by family Turnbull! In the photos above you will see Igor's quizzical look whilst examining Glynn's model. Junior Daniel Billam frightened the professionals with a first round max. David Beales kept the tension up by crashing twice in the last round, when he could have won with a half decent flight. Pat nearly beat husband Glynn but her last flight was out of sight behind the airfield control tower.

Report and results from Geoff Kent
The competition was flown in windy conditions with the models landing off the airfield an in the trees, making life difficult, Derek repeatedly DT'd early and Geoff had difficulty with Montreal stop when flying with 30 gram motors. (note 30 gram motors!)
THE POSTAL CONTEST
Despite several inquiries and much interest no entries were received. Perhaps we can do better in 2002?
